Mastercam postprocessor installation

Mastercam post-processors are delivered to customers as either compressed Zip files, Mastercam-Content files, or Mill-Turn environments. Follow the instructions below to install different Mastercam post-processors.

Mastercam Post-Processor Terms of Use

Zip Post-Processor Package

The Zip package is extracted to the Mastercam shared folder. Typically, the folder is located at C:\Users\Public\Documents\shared Mastercam 202x\ (or C:\Users\Public\Public Documents\shared Mastercam 202x\ etc.)

Extracting the Zip package does not require separate programs. Simply right-click the file in Windows File Explorer and select "Extract All..." and then use the "Browse" button to choose the Mastercam shared folder.

Once the package is extracted to the shared folder, the files automatically go to the correct directories:
cnc_machines\ and mill\posts and/or lathe\posts

Content Post-Processor Package

Some post-processor manufacturers deliver post-processors as a .mcam-content file.
The .mcam-content post-processor package installs by dragging the file onto the Mastercam screen area.

Mill-Turn Machine Environments

The Mill-Turn machine environment should be placed in the following folder;
C:\Users\Public\Documents\Shared Mastercam 202x\Mill Turn\machines

Cimco Post-Processors

Cimco’s post-processors utilize their own .dll utility. You can download it here;
https://www.mastercam.dk/mastercam/download/cp6/

Run the downloaded .exe installation file, after which the cp6.dll file will be installed.

Loading a Post-Processor into an Old Mastercam File

If you are updating an old Mastercam post-processor, note that sometimes previous definition files may remain in effect when loading the Mastercam file. This can be corrected by selecting the machine group's properties under File -> Replace (machine definition)
