Efficient use of the Mastercam software requires the right hardware, which is why we offer a clear division of minimum requirements, manufacturer's recommendations, and Camcut’s own hardware recommendations. The right choice of hardware ensures that the software runs smoothly and supports productive work in machine shop environments.
Minimum requirements are basic prerequisites that allow the Mastercam software to start and use basic functions. Hardware meeting the minimum requirements is suitable for educational use and lighter design tasks. A Windows 10 or 11 version is required as a minimum operating system, and the processor needs to be at least a 2.4 GHz 64-bit Intel or AMD processor. To ensure smooth system operation, at least 8 GB of RAM is needed, and the graphics card must support the OpenGL 3.2 and OpenCL 1.2 standards. Full HD resolution is recommended for display. Additionally, there must be at least 20 GB of free storage and a basic mouse.
The manufacturer's recommended requirements are designed specifically for the intensive use of Mastercam software in more demanding machine shop and production environments. With the recommended requirements, the software operates smoothly even in the simulation of heavier machining paths and the handling of large 3D models. The recommended operating system is Windows 10 (version 20H2 or later) Professional. For processing, an Intel i7 or Xeon® E3 series processor (Kaby Lake or later) with a clock speed of at least 3.2 GHz is recommended. There should be at least 32 GB of RAM and a NVIDIA Quadro® or AMD FirePro™/Radeon Pro series graphics card with at least 4 GB of memory. Using dual monitors supporting Full HD resolution boosts work efficiency. Fast NVMe storage is recommended, along with a 3DConnexion 3D mouse, which facilitates the handling and programming of 3D models.
Camcut's own recommendation is based on our experience in machine shop use and the most common needs of our customers. Our recommended hardware meets the manufacturer's requirements and offers an optimal balance between performance and cost-efficiency. We recommend Windows 10 (version 20H2 or later) 64-bit Professional as the operating system. The processor should be at least an Intel i7 or Xeon® E3 series (Kaby Lake or later) running at a minimum of 3.2 GHz clock speed. We recommend at least 32 GB of RAM to ensure smooth use even with large machining paths. Suitable graphics cards include the NVIDIA Quadro® or AMD FirePro™ / Radeon Pro series, with at least 2 GB of memory. For storage solutions, we recommend a fast SSD drive, which ensures quick startup and file processing. Full HD resolution (1920x1080) is recommended for display, and a basic mouse suffices for most usage scenarios.
By choosing hardware according to the manufacturer or Camcut's recommendations, you ensure that Mastercam works efficiently and supports your machine shop’s production processes. Efficient and optimized hardware enhances working comfort, reduces calculation times, and allows for smoother operation on complex projects.
